How do I eject tapes from the command line in NetBackup?

You can eject multiple tapes from the command line in NetBackup using the vmchange command.

Below is an example of how you can run it to eject multiple tapes.

/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange -res -multi_eject -w -rn 0 -rt tld -rh -ml tape1:tape2:tape3..

Ex. /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange -res -multi_eject -w -rn 0 -rt tld -rh nbutest.mysite.com -ml 100100:100101:100102

If you have more tapes than your MAP holds, you will get prompted after your MAP is full to eject them and press enter to continue. For example, if your MAP holds 5 tapes and you’re ejecting 10, you will get prompted to remove the first 5 tapes. After doing so, press enter and the next set of 5 will be ejected. Remove the next set of 5 tapes and then press enter again to complete the process.
