Enabling auto-clean on your Quantum i80 tape library is a pretty simple procedure.
To enable it you will likely need to reduce the partition by the number of cleaning slots you want to allocate.
1. Login to the web interface of your i80 using the username: admin and password: password.
2. Click Setup –> Partitions –> library_a –> Modify –> Enter Number of Slots:
3. Change the value from whatever it’s set to (50 in our case) and reduce it by the number of cleaning slots you want to allocate.
(We changed ours from 50 to 48 to allocate 2 cleaning slots)
4. Click Apply
5. Click Setup –> Cleaning Slots –> Choose the number of cleaning slots –> Click Apply
6. Insert a cleaning tape in the I/E port
7. Click Operations –> Cleaning Media –> Import
8. Once the cleaning tapes have been imported they will remain in the new cleaning partition and the library will auto-clean as needed.
